Lectures on Sampling design and model-assisted estimation

Short courses organized by the The Graduate Program in Statistics at UFPE and the Computational Agricultural Statistics Laboratory – CASTLab

Short course 2:
Finite population inference using modern regression techniques

Maria Giovanna Ranalli,
Department of Political Science, University of Perugia

When? November 18th, 19th and November 21st, daily (10h00-12h30)
Where? Room 313, 2nd floor, Department of Statistics, CCEN-UFPE

About the short course:

This short course will provide an overview of how modern regression techniques methods can be used to improve statistical efficiency when estimating finite population parameters based on data from probability samples, incorporating useful auxiliary information. The techniques discussed include parametric and non-parametric regression models, calibration, and small area estimation.

Short course 1:
Introduction to statistical sampling design

Cristiano Ferraz,
Department of Statistics, Federal University of Pernambuco

When? From November 11th to the 13th, daily (10h-12h30)
Where? Room 313, 2nd floor, Department of Statistics, CCEN-UFPE

About the short course:

This short course will introduce the basis for probability sampling selection techniques to make design-based finite population inference. Several sampling designs will be introduced under a unified theory of estimation, using equal and unequal inclusion probabilities. The role and use of auxiliary information in stratification and sampling designswith probability proportional to a size measure will be reviewed.
